The add is currently playing, I'm an Australian and i have lived in Australia my whole life, I'll come back to see if i think any of these things are weird! I watched it! None of it was weird to me! But I agree with the backpack thing, if whatever school my future kids go to *I'm still a single teenager* allow it, I'll get them to have a suitcase too! I'd prefer that! I'm homeschooled currently but when I did go to school the backpacks hurt my shoulders, and my little sisters when she was in school. Also I don't think kids have to have big back packs? That was never a rule for me, I had one to fit my stuff in but otherwise people can have whatever size backpack they want! 😃

Lived on the Gold Coast for 20 years and just moved to South East Melbourne near the bay. Gold Coast is a geographically stunning place and the beaches are sublime. However I left as it became too expensive and stressful, too hot in general for my liking and the traffic is horrendous. Good luck getting a carpark at the beach hotspots. Great place if you dont like the cold (I love it), have decent money/career and love the water/outdoor activities.

Everyone is leaving australia now. The property market has left no future in australia. We are practically the second worst afforabke living in the world now. Australians see no future here. Add the economic collapse that is going to happen unless it changes. The great australia we grew up in is dead and will be deader soon.

Just came across this video now. I've been struggling with depression and anxiety over the past 2 and a half years. This video gave me some solace that other migrants are going through the same thing. I made a lot of good friends here my first year in Australia but I was a backpacker then and most of my good friends were all backpackers so by the time I got my PR they were all gone. I wish I had put more effort in making Australian friends. I recently visited my home country and I have a large group of friends and community there and it really hit home the importance of community.

If you want to take on the outback, like the actual outback. PREPARE! A britts camper by itself won’t cut it. Take at least enough drinking water for a week and plenty of extra fuel as a bare minimum. It’s nowhere near as bad as it used to be but there are still huge amounts of the continent that are almost completely empty(except for the occasional pub lol) ask the locals for advice if you can understand the accents trust me they’ll usually be amazingly helpful. We got caught by floods once near Tibooburra on a 4WD trip and a station owner dropped by to see how we were travelling for food then drove back to his homestead to get us some lamb chops. It was almost a 160 km round trip! Australia is vast and ancient. If you take the time and make the effort to understand and experience this you will never forget it…

It's similar in Ireland. Been here for 5 years, asking my Irish co-workers to sometimes grab a beer together, but nope... It's identical with immigrants who moved here as kids, they already have their social connections and no need to make more.

i lived in Sydney for 11years.and then moved to Canada. i know one thing after living almost 6 years in this country that i always misses Sydney. Nowhere can bit Australia in any point of view. I think making real friends with deep connection after certain age its almost impossible. its more difficult for people who migrant to a new country and dealing with the new environment .I think for an immigrant everywhere other than the home country is something new .so it doesn’t matter exactly where you are .you only have to accept it and find a way to manage your new life and to build it .you maybe lucky enough to find a good partner or a few nice people around yourself .this is the only matters .in general Australia is the bast , I am going back home to see you , lovely Australia.

I have a theory about Drop bears. Australia has many Eucalyptus trees, some of the Eucalyptus are Gum trees & gum trees are widow makers. For no reason they will drop limbs, & some are huge & heavy, and can kill you. Never camp under a gum tree. Now my theory is that the Drop bear was invented to keep tourists away from Gum trees without giving the long explanation i just gave.

A great way to get around Australia is by hiring a car or motorbike and driving inter city. Stop for breaks at coffee stops in most towns, or cook a meal on a barbie. Biggest tip if doing this is to watch out for wild life crossing roads. They have right of way. Enjoy!

As an australian when i went to UNSW, orientation week was optional for us so most of the time we didnt attend. And you're right we already have established friend groups so we aren't looking but always happy to make friends with international students, i love learning about other countries cultures I find it super interesting. I do agree being out in the suburbs there is not much to do, when i lived in the city you can walk anywhere and there is so much going on and it feels as soon as you leave the city its a little boring (Just my opinion). And also my opinion melbourne weather is by far the worst on the east coast, it is bipolar, and cold.
